Breeding & the Mystery Egg

Breeding pairs two of your creatures to produce a Mystery Egg — a no-spoiler surprise egg that hatches into a stronger offspring, usually one tier above its parents (the top rung is a special case — see below). Before you commit, an info card shows you the honest odds: the success rate, the exact $ZOLANA fee, the hatch timer, and the hidden variant distribution. The specific species stays a secret until the egg cracks.

Breeding has been rebuilt from the ground up. It no longer costs Gold at all — every breed pays a small on-chain $ZOLANA fee scaled to the rarity you’re breeding for (200 / 350 / 600, or a flat 1,000 for a Legendary-jackpot pairing), and it’s paced by breed slots plus a short 25-minute per-parent cooldown. Breeding unlocks at Level 15. A failed breed costs you nothing but the attempt — your slot is refunded and you still earn trainer XP.

HOW A PAIR RESOLVES

For the lower rungs, offspring tier = min(parent tiers) + 1 (T0 → T1, T1 → T2, T2 → T3). At the top of the ladder, two Epic (Tier 3) parents don’t step up to a guaranteed Legendary — the pair resolves as another Tier-3 (Elite) breed carrying a hidden Legendary jackpot whose odds you raise yourself through mastery and $ZOLANA holdings (details below). The pair must be element-compatible (see the compatibility grid below), and both parents must be at least Adult stage and 50+ happiness. Each breed spends one breed slot. Legendary (Tier 4) creatures still cannot breed at all.

Breed Slots & Access New · slot-paced

Breeding runs on slots now

Breeding no longer costs Gold. It runs on breed slots — a personal, refilling pool of attempts — with a short 25-minute per-parent cooldown so a single creature can’t breed back-to-back, and every breed is paid with an on-chain $ZOLANA fee. Breeding unlocks at Level 15.

Everyone starts with a 3-slot cap. The more $ZOLANA you hold, the higher that cap climbs — all the way to 12 slots. Slots refill one every 24 h up to whatever cap your holdings unlock.

OUT OF SLOTS? REFILL INSTANTLY

You never have to wait out the 24-hour timer. Spend $ZOLANA to instantly refill a slot and keep breeding — the same on-chain currency that pays the breed fee itself. Slots set the pace; $ZOLANA is the accelerator.

What Tier Is My Creature? Rarity ≠ Tier

This is the most common breeding question. A creature's rarity (the RARE / EPIC / LEGENDARY colour badge) is not the same as its breeding tier. Two creatures can both read "RARE" and still be different tiers — and because a pair resolves on min(parent tiers) + 1, the lower parent decides the offspring. A creature's tier comes from where it originated:

Where the creature came from Breeding tier Examples
Any egg — Basic, the 7 elemental Gold eggs, or the Gem Premium Egg (all base species)T0RARE Florix · COMMON Cobble · EPIC Sylvorn — all Tier 0
Mystery pool — the drop-only premium species; they arrive "pre-climbed"T2–T4Rare → T2 Verdania · Epic → T3 Boulderon · Legendary → T4 Bloomara
Bred — the same-element & hybrid ladder species (tables below)T1–T4Petalbud T1 · Thornhelm T2 · Elderbark T3

So every creature you hatch from a shop or premium egg — no matter how rare — starts at Tier 0. Mystery-pool creatures are the exception: they enter already at Tier 2/3/4 (matching their rarity), so you can breed them straight into the mid ladder.

WORKED EXAMPLE — VERDANIA + FLORIX → TIER 1

Verdania is a Mystery-pool Rare, so it's Tier 2. Florix is a Rare from the Forest Egg, so — despite the matching "RARE" badge — it's a base creature at Tier 0. The pair resolves on min(2, 0) + 1 = Tier 1: the Tier-0 parent pulls it down. To breed a Tier 3 offspring you need both parents at Tier 2 or higher — e.g. two Mystery Rares, or two ladder-bred Tier-2 creatures.

The Breeding Flow Commit → reveal

Breeding is a commit-reveal process: you learn success or failure the moment you pay, but which species and variant you bred stays hidden until you hatch. The steps:

  1. Pick two parents. The game checks element compatibility, stage (Adult / Elder), happiness (≥ 50) and that you have a free breed slot.
  2. Read the info card. It shows the success rate, the $ZOLANA fee, hatch timer, and full variant odds — but not which creature you'll get. The offspring id is fixed here (server-side), just hidden.
  3. Spend a slot & pay the $ZOLANA fee. The success / fail roll resolves the instant you pay. On success you receive a sealed Mystery Egg (its species and variant still hidden) and the breed slot is consumed; on failure no egg is produced — your breed slot is refunded plus trainer XP. Out of slots? Refill instantly with $ZOLANA.
  4. Incubate & wait. The egg hatches on the tier's timer (30 min → 2 h).
  5. Hatch & reveal. When the timer ends the egg cracks to reveal which species and hidden variant you bred — the only things kept secret this far. (A failed breed never reaches this step; you were told at payment.)
SUCCESS IS ROLLED AT PAYMENT

Success or failure is decided the moment you pay — not at hatch. The success chance falls the higher you climb the ladder — a Tier 1 breed always succeeds, a Tier 2 lands 85%, and a Tier 3 (Elite) breed — the top of the ladder — lands 60%. A fail is never a loss, but it also yields no egg: your breed slot is refunded and you keep trainer XP. Only a successful breed leaves you an egg to incubate, and hatching merely reveals which species and variant you got. Your only shot at a Legendary is the hidden jackpot on a successful Tier-3 breed — and you raise those odds yourself through mastery and holdings, up to an 18% apex.

Fees, Success & the Fail-Safe $ZOLANA · by rarity

The tier is set by min(parent tiers); the result is one tier higher for T0–T2 parents. Each breed spends one breed slot and pays a flat on-chain $ZOLANA fee scaled to the rarity you’re breeding for200 / 350 / 600 for an Uncommon / Rare / Epic result, and a flat 1,000 for a Legendary-jackpot pairing (two Tier-3 parents, bottom row). Success is rolled at payment; on a fail no egg is produced, your slot is refunded, and you keep the trainer XP.

T2 → T3T3 · Epic60060%slot back1002 h
T3 → T3 ★T3 · Epic + Legendary jackpot1,00060%slot back1002 h

The fee is keyed to the offspring’s rarity, not the tier step — Uncommon 200 / Rare 350 / Epic 600, plus the flat 1,000 Legendary chase. Most rungs match their tier, but a couple of hybrid rungs jump a rarity band and are priced by that rarity: a T1 Twilara (Rare) costs 350, and a T2 Eclipsyn (Epic) costs 600.

"T0" parents are base egg creatures (tier 0). Each successful breed advances the ladder one step — up to Tier 3 (Epic), the highest a breed can reliably reach. ★ Two Epic (Tier-3) parents pay the flat 1,000 $ZOLANA Legendary-jackpot fee: the egg resolves as another Tier-3 breed (same 60% / 2 h as T2 → T3), but a successful egg carries a hidden Legendary jackpot whose odds you raise yourself — see Mastery, Holdings & the Jackpot below. The egg still looks and times like a normal Tier-3 mystery egg, surprise-hatching the Legendary. (Otherwise, Legendaries come from the Mystery pool or the marketplace.)

Mastery, Holdings & the Jackpot New · earn your odds

The Legendary jackpot on a Tier-3 × Tier-3 breed is no longer a fixed roll — you raise it yourself from two directions. Mastery sets the floor; your $ZOLANA holdings set the ceiling.

Mastery  ·  the Floor

Your lifetime breed count is breeding mastery. The more you’ve bred, the higher your minimum Legendary-jackpot chance — a floor that only ever goes up. Grinders are rewarded: keep breeding and your worst-case jackpot odds climb.

Holdings  ·  the Ceiling

Your $ZOLANA holdings lift the ceiling — the top jackpot chance you can reach — and the same holdings raise your slot cap. At the very top, the jackpot apexes at 18%.

Net: a fresh Level-15 breeder lands the jackpot only occasionally; a veteran with deep mastery and high $ZOLANA holdings can push it all the way to the 18% apex. Mastery guarantees you a floor no matter what; holdings decide how high above it you can climb.

THE FAIL-SAFE — YOU ARE NEVER SILENTLY CHARGED

A breed that simply fails the success roll refunds your breed slot and still pays trainer XP — you lose nothing but the attempt. And because the fee is on-chain, any breed that can’t complete after you’ve paid is always $ZOLANA-refunded — the fee is never quietly kept.

BOUND PARENT → BOUND EGG

If either parent is bound (untradeable — e.g. free onboarding stock), the bred egg is bound too, so the offspring can't be sold. A BOUND tag marks bound creatures right in the breeding picker so you never mix them up by accident.

Bound vs Tradeable Legendaries Hold OR grind

A bred Legendary comes out tradeable (you can sell it) or bound (yours to keep and use — shown as a SOULBOUND tag). Binding now comes from just two things: breeding from a bound parent, or breeding below Level 26 without holding the required $ZOLANA. Everything else is tradeable — a Level-26+ grinder mints a tradeable Legendary even with almost no $ZOLANA to their name.

FULL GUIDE ON ITS OWN PAGE

The complete rule, worked examples and an FAQ live on the Bound vs Tradeable Legendaries page. In short: from Level 26 up a bred creature is tradeable however little $ZOLANA you hold; below Level 26 you must hold at least 100,000 $ZOLANA (sustained) or the offspring is bound — and a bound parent always makes a bound child.

Hidden Variant Odds Scales with tier

Every bred egg secretly rolls a variant — a cosmetic-and-power tint that boosts coin gen and battle stats. The special-variant weights scale up with the result tier (×1.0 at T1 → ×1.75 at T4), so higher-tier breeds are your best shot at a Shiny, Golden, Shadow, or Rainbow. Normal keeps a flat base weight. These are the exact odds the info card displays:

Result tier Normal Shiny Golden Shadow Rainbow
T1 · Bred87.49%7.87%3.06%1.05%0.52%
T2 · Advanced84.84%9.54%3.71%1.27%0.64%
T3 · Elite82.34%11.12%4.32%1.48%0.74%
T4 · Legendary79.98%12.60%4.90%1.68%0.84%

Since the v0.19 nerf a breed reliably tops out at Tier 3, so the Tier-4 row above applies only to the rare jackpot Legendary egg (which is still shown to you as a Tier-3 mystery egg). Even so, these breeding-specific variant odds are far more generous than a normal egg hatch (where a Shiny is ~5% and a Rainbow ~0.1%). The payout / power multipliers per variant (Shiny ×2 coins, Golden ×5, Shadow ×7, Rainbow ×15) are covered on the Creatures page.

Element Compatibility Who pairs with whom

Two creatures can only breed if their elements are compatible. Same-element pairs run the same-element ladder; two different (but compatible) elements produce a hybrid from a fixed cross-element ladder. The live compatibility map:

Same-Element Ladders T1 → T4

Pairing two creatures of the same element climbs that element's dedicated ladder — Uncommon (T1) → Rare (T2) → Epic (T3) → Legendary (T4). The rung you land on is set by the parents' tier, not chosen. As of the v0.19 nerf the Legendary (T4) rung is no longer a plain breed — it's the rare jackpot on a T3 × T3 pairing (see below):

Every one of these 28 species is breeding-only — none of them exist in the shops. The only way to add them to your collection is to climb the ladder (or buy one on the marketplace from someone who did).

Hybrid Cross-Element Ladders 5 pairs · T1 → T4

Pairing two different compatible elements runs a fixed hybrid ladder. There are five hybrid ladders; the offspring's own element alternates along the rungs (shown in brackets):

Parent elements T1 · Uncommon T2 · Rare T3 · Epic T4 · Legendary
Terra × FloraPetrabloom [Flora]Cragroot [Terra]Terravine [Flora]Gaialith [Terra]

Aqua × FloraMarshling [Aqua]Lotuseer [Flora]Swampire [Aqua]Deltarcha [Flora]
Void × LuxTwilara [Void]Eclipsyn [Lux]Dualuxe [Void]Divinium [Lux] · 3% → Cosmium ★

The hybrid rung, like the same-element one, is fixed by parent tier — the info card tells you the tier and odds, and the exact species stays hidden until hatch.

★ Reaching any Tier-4 ladder top is the hidden Legendary jackpot on a successful T3 × T3 breed — odds you raise yourself through mastery (a floor) and $ZOLANA holdings (up to an 18% apex). Void × Lux then layers one more roll on that top: 97% Divinium (Legendary) / 3% Cosmium — the game's only breedable Mythical. A bred Cosmium is a genuine long-odds chase; every other ladder tops out at Legendary.

Mythic Ascension New · the Altar

Cosmium (the 3% Void × Lux chase above) is the only Mythical you can breed on the ladder. The ten god-tier Mythicals come from one place — the Mythic Altar, a new tab inside Breeding where you sacrifice Elder Legendaries for a chance at a Mythic Egg. It's a deliberately savage sink, so Mythicals stay exceptionally rare.

HOW THE RITUAL WORKS

Offer 3–10 Elder Legendaries plus 10 Gems + 100,000 Gold per ritual. Each Elder adds +2% Mythic chance, capped at 20% (all 10). On success, 2 of the offered Elders survive (chosen at random) and the rest are consumed → you receive a Mythic Egg that hatches a random one of the 10 gods. On failure, every offered Elder is lost.

Elders offered Mythic chance Cost / ritual On success On fail
3 (minimum)6%10 Gems + 100k Gold2 surviveall 3 die
510%10 Gems + 100k Gold2 surviveall 5 die
10 (maximum)20%10 Gems + 100k Gold2 surviveall 10 die
THE PITY BOOST

So a Mythic isn’t pure luck-of-the-draw: your sacrificed-Elder count accumulates across rituals, and once you’ve offered 50 Elders in total every ritual leaps to a 70% Mythic chance — far above the 20% offer cap. It’s a boost, not a guarantee: a roll can still miss, but you keep the pity boost on a failure, so you stay at 70% every ritual until a Mythic finally lands (the counter resets when it does). The real gate isn’t the roll — it’s raising that many Elders in the first place.

The 10 Egg Types Hatch rarity tables

Breeding is one of several egg sources. A hatch is a chain of independent rolls — first a rarity from the egg's table, then a species picked uniformly from creatures of that rarity in the egg's element (the same resolver every egg uses). The Breeding Egg is the exception: its species is predetermined from the ladder, so no rarity roll happens. The live tables:

These are the 10 hatchable egg types (8 Gold shop eggs + the Gem Premium Egg + the drop-only Mystery Egg). An eleventh internal egg — the ladder-driven Breeding Egg — carries a fixed offspring instead of a rarity table and inherits the tier's hatch time. Inventory caps: 12 eggs held, 6 incubator slots.

MYSTERY EGG vs BREEDING EGG

A Breeding Egg has a fixed offspring (the tier / hybrid species) with a hatch timer set by the tier (30 min → 2 h). The Mystery Egg is a separate drop-only egg from deep dungeons / events that rolls the premium Mystery pool over a 5-minute hatch — Rare 55% / Epic 43% / Legendary 2% from a dungeon drop. The Deluxe capsule version is a richer paid chase at Legendary 10% (the Soulbound capsule's egg stays at the base 2%). All look identical and are surprise-revealed at hatch — you never see the species before the shell cracks.

COMING SOON — EGG DROPS MOVING TO THE RAID BOSS

We're moving dungeon egg drops onto a new co-op Raid Boss (in development). Soon the Mystery Egg and rare eggs will be earned by teaming up on the Raid Boss rather than as solo-dungeon drops — a bigger, shared way to chase Legendaries. Solo dungeons keep their Gold + material rewards. Rates here reflect the current system and will be revisited when the Raid Boss ships.

Worked Odds Traced to the data

Every number on this page is traced to the live game data. A few worked examples of what the info card is really telling you:

  • First breed (T0 → T1), Terra × Terra: pays 200 $ZOLANA, always succeeds, hatches in 30 minQuartzpup. This is the cheapest entry onto the ladder.
  • Elite breed (T2 → T3), Aqua × Aqua: pays 600 $ZOLANA, succeeds 60% of the time, hatches in 2 h, and lands on Abyssling (the Aqua T3 rung). On a fail your breed slot is refunded + 100 XP. Variant odds: 82.34% Normal … 0.74% Rainbow.
  • Top breed (T3 × T3), Void × Lux hybrid: pays the flat 1,000 $ZOLANA Legendary-jackpot fee, succeeds 60%, hatches in 2 h as a Tier-3 mystery egg. A plain success lands the Tier-3 hybrid Dualuxe; a successful egg also carries the hidden Legendary jackpot — its chance set by your mastery (a floor) and $ZOLANA holdings (up to an 18% apex). Only on that jackpot does the Void × Lux roll fire: 97% Divinium (Lux Legendary) / 3% Cosmium (the only breedable Mythical). A fail refunds your breed slot + 100 XP. The info card shows Tier-3 variant odds (82.34% Normal … 0.74% Rainbow).
